Hindu Dharma honors the guru or spiritual master as a principle in itself beyond any particular personality, philosophy or revelation. For those who follow teachings like Yoga, Ayurveda and Vedanta, the guru is a cosmic principle taking many names and forms. We should follow the guru who best takes us back to our true Self, as the guru abides in our inner consciousness.

Guru Purnima
Guru Purnima is celebrated on the first full moon after Solstice, in the Hindu month of Ashad / Ashadha (July-August).
Guru Purnima is celebrated as the day that Shiva became the Adiyogi (first yogi) when he transmitted the first yoga teachings to his disciples.
The day also honors the sacred memory of the saint who edited the Vedas, Maharshi Veda Vyasa.

Day Out of Time / Sacred Year
In the Mayan science of time and ancient Egyptian civilization, the 13 Moon Calendar (also called the Galactic Year or Sacred Year) begins on July 26th. The day before, July 25th, is called the Day Out of Time. Since the 13 Moon calendar has 364 days and the solar calendar has 365, the Day Out of Time reconciles this difference.
According to the Mayan Calendar, in July there are two sacred days, both marking an end and a beginning.
The Mayans and ancient Egyptians celebrated July 26 as the date when Time/Space is renewed for another cycle. [source]
“On July 25th we enter the day out of time portal, a place where all and nothing exists simultaneously. In the same way it re-aligns the 13 Moon calendar and solar year, it is also a special day to realign our own energies.” [source]
“The Day Out of Time [is] a day of reverence and respect for all life, a dedication to the beauty of eternal time, and an outreach of cultural and community exchange and education relative to the concept of natural time.” [source]
July 25th is also when the Star Sirius begins to rise with our Sun. [source]
Among those who recognize the Sacred Year, the Sirians are known as Master Star Teachers who have helped to guide humanity on the path of ascension.

Applying this Knowledge
If you’re interested in aligning with natural events but not sure where to start, here are some ways you might engage, starting with simple awareness and progressing through more active involvement as desired.
You can simply become aware of the current natural phenomena. You may begin to make observations and associations with the energy of this phase.
You can go a little deeper by educating yourself on related themes and practices designed to align with the energy. You might experiment with practices on your own or in community.
You might be inspired to incorporate a particular element into your teaching or service work, such as a reading aligned with the theme, or a yoga pose, breathing practice or mantra, for example.
You can design a yoga class that is fully aligned with the themes and energy of this phase.
